IS CELEBRATING ITS FIRST BIRTHDAY!

One year ago, on June 28, 2019, local non-profit Renewable Juneau launched the Juneau Carbon Offset Fund (JCOF). The goal of the fund was to convert fossil fuel heating systems to renewable energy powered air source heat pumps in the homes of lower income families. Community and business support for the effort has been outstanding. In the Fund’s first year, the homes of nine families have been converted to renewable energy heat, using revenues raised from sales of carbon offsets.

These nine projects eliminate the annual production of approximately 107,520 pounds of carbon dioxide.

To current supporters of JCOF – know that the corona virus has not stopped our efforts to attract off-setters and donors, nor has it hampered our commitment to promoting renewable energy for home heating, reducing home heating costs for those most in need, keeping money circulating in our community, improving home air quality and health, and reducing green house gases.

If you are new to the Juneau Carbon Offset Fund and would like to purchase carbon offsets, calculate the size of your carbon footprint, or make a donation to the Fund, take a look at the options found in the menu at the top of this post!

The Board of Renewable Juneau and the JCOF’s Advisory Committee want to thank everyone who has shown their support for this effort. Special thanks go out to our business offsetters, the Juneau Community Foundation, and the Leighty Foundation.
