Spruce Root Partners with ACRF!

We are excited to welcome Spruce Root as our newest Alaska Carbon Reduction Fund (ACRF) partner!

Spruce Root is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution that supports Southeast Alaska business owners through access to business development and financial resources, helping build resilient communities. Since 2022, Spruce Root has been quietly contributing to ACRF to offset carbon emissions from staff airline travel. Their generous contributions have offset the equivalent carbon emissions of roughly 180 round trip flights from Juneau to Seattle! We look forward to continuing this partnership and greatly appreciate their support!

“At Spruce Root, we invite entrepreneurs to look inside their own businesses and find ways to improve their business practices to be profitable while having a positive impact on the community and the environment. We must be willing to do the same thing we ask of our clients. I hope that by sharing about what we do, we can normalize these ways of operating because everything we do has impacts, and we must open our eyes to understand them and be willing to wrestle with them. Reducing carbon emissions is essential to the health of our future generations and the planet. Spruce Root is grateful to offset our air travel by supporting ACRF. It’s not huge, but it’s a step in the right direction.”

Support like Spruce Root’s, and that of our other valued partners – Above and Beyond Alaska Adventures, Allen Marine, Carnival Cruise Line, Gastineau Guiding, Coeur AK / Kensington, the Leighty Foundation, MRV Architects, Wild Coast Excursions, and more – is more valuable today than ever before. With financial chaos at the federal level and lower income grant programs on the chopping block, private industry and personal-level financial support has taken on an oversized role in sustaining the important work that ACRF is accomplishing daily across the region.

ACRF sends a thankful shoutout to all of our supporters – subscription supporters who contribute their carbon-reduction dollars every month, visitor supporters who pay ACRF to balance out impacts from their local excursions, and the local and regional businesses that look to the Fund for its services, its outcomes, and its ability to help them achieve their forward-thinking carbon-reducing sustainability goals. Thank you!
